Reported by ISC members throughout the country:

Jan. 5, 2011
Tehran- Situation of Tehran’s bazaars on beginning of Jan.:

Exchange: 50% open, 30% closed, 20% half closed
Gold and jewelry: 60% open, 20% closed, 20% half closed
Shoe and leader: 75% open, 15% closed, 10% half close
Fabric and outfit: 70% open, 10% closed, 20% half close
Also merchants said that Ahmadinejad intends to appoint rations for imports within two months and probably in that case Bazaar will go thoroughly on strike.

Tehran- price of poultry has raised another 400 tomans and is now 3550 per kg.
Ardebil- on beginning of Jan:
Lavash Bread: from 25 tomans to 60 tomans after subsidy cuts
Barbari Bread: from 50 tomans to 200 tomans after subsidy cuts
Sangak Bread: from 75 tomans to 200 tomans after subsidy cuts
Another aftermath of subsidy cuts in Ardebil is that the number of beggars has risen and they are seen everywhere. Many of laborers and poor people now have lost their jobs and even children, and girls at ages of 16 to 17, are begging; a phenomena that was never seen. It is obvious from their appearance that they are not beggar and they have to do this because they have no other choice. Everybody is cursing Ahmadinejad for this.
In General: Subsidy cuts have caused a serious drop in jobs that are related with cars such as mechanics, auto services and spare parts shops because people are using their cars less and because of other problems caused by subsidy cuts. People say that there is a Tsunami on the way.
