Political prisoner on 28th day of hunger strike in critical condition denied treatment
Tehran -August 10, 2010
According to reports, political prisoner Arjang Davoudi is on his 28th day of hunger strike and in critical health. He is in danger of death.
The side effects of his hunger strike have led to his dangerous physical condition.
He is suffering from low blood pressure which has become more severe over time, a severe decrease of vision, headaches, dizzy spells and his is also unable to move.
On the other hand, interrogators of the Intelligence Agency and heads of Gohardasht Prison have increased pressure on this political prisoner and political prisoners who help him are summoned to the prison’s Department of Intelligence and Investigation where they are threatened that if they continue to help Davoudi, they will be thrown in solitary.
Political prisoner Mansour Radpour is one of the prisoners who was summoned and threatened by Reza Turabi, the head investigator of this prison, and Kermani and Faraji, the head and assistant head of the Intelligence Department. They threatened Mansour Radpour that if he helps Davoudi, he will be transferred to solitary cell in cellblock 1.
Ali Haj Kazem, the head of prison has ordered a ban on medical treatment for Davoudi and it has been a few days that he has not been treated while in critical condition.
This shows that the heads of the prison and intelligence interrogators intent to physically eliminate this political prisoner. Especially since one of his demands is that his complaint against Ali Haj Kazem be dealt with.
Political prisoner Arjang Davoudi who is currently jailed in cellblock 3 known as the Worker’s cell went on a hunger strike on July 14 in protest to prison conditions and inhumane limitations. Davoudi has demanded his minimum rights like ending his visitation and phone call ban to his family, medical treatment for his physical condition, ending the (illegal) confiscation of his home which has made his family homeless and seeing to his complaint against the head of Gohardasht Prison, Ali Haj Kazem.

Sanctions

Effect of sanctions on the clerical regime and denial of Ahmadinejad
Tehran, August 10, 2010
Despite the economical pressures imposed on the clerical regime in all aspects and every body can see that but regime and especially Ahmadinejad is trying to deny it.
In his speeches this week Ahmadinejd said that the sanctions have helped in uprooting the dominance of ‘dollar’ over global markets while it is obvious that the sanctions are gradually helping in uprooting the mullahs in Iran.

The clerical dictatorship is facing problems in selling its gas
Tehran, August 10, 2010
The clerical regime has two options for representing its gas, either by pipe lines or by selling liquefied gas.
Regime’s strategy from the beginning was to construct gas transfer pipe lines to Asia through Pakistan and India or to Europe through Turkey or Republic of Azerbaijan.
But US was opposed to the plan and it was not progressive. As the result regime tried the second way, meaning production of liquefied natural gas.
But on Monday August 9 regime’s Oil Ministry announced that the production of liquefied natural gas has stopped.
This is the result of oil and gas sanctions. Many of the great oil enterprises enjoying the facilities for transporting liquefied gas have announced that they will not cooperate with regime any more.
In addition to the investment and technology that regime needs a market exporting the gas.
Japan is one of the greatest consumers of liquefied gas and the clerical regime has had the greatest hope in exporting its product to that country.
But about two weeks ago Japan announced that it will join the harshest sanctions against the clerical dictatorship.
In that way the clerical regime has lost its market too.

The ring of sanctions got tighter
Tehran, August 11, 2010
- Brazil signed the sanctions issued by UN against the clerical dictatorship.
- Turkey’s export of gasoline to the clerical dictatorship was reduced 73% on July.
- Toyota Company announced that aligning with the international sanctions against regime’s nuclear programs it has suspended the exports of its cars to Iran. In its statement the company has said that ‘having in mind the international atmosphere’ it has stopped shipping its products to the clerical regime since June.

Ahmadinejad’s deputy: Korans must be slapped in face
Tehran, August 10, 2010
Being under the pressure of the international sanctions the clerical dictatorship is out of breath but tries to show that it doesn’t care but its nervous reactions and it threats towards those that impose sanctions speak enough.
Mohammad Reza Rahimi, Ahmadinejad’s deputy told Fars news agency affiliated with IRGC: “in our point of view Dollar and Euro are dirty currencies and we will not sell our oil by that...The sanctions will not stop our nuclear program it will just help us to reach technical independence in different industries...”.
He attacked Korea and said: “they must be slapped”. He also called Australians “a bunch of ranchers”.

The head of regime’s trade room: we must take the sanctions serious just like a military war
Tehran, August 10, 2010
Nahavandian the head of regime’s trade room called the international sanctions as ‘battle field’ and worriedly said: “we cannot be naive; we must take it serious as a military war.
In a session with the subject of sanctions he said that not paying attention to sanctions is like not paying attention to the enemy and added: “the pressure of sanctions ...will eventually lead to a rise in prices and unemployment...it is not logical to provoke them for more sanctions. This will stop our progress and will keep the future generation as retarded”.

She was charged by Judge Ahmadzadeh with assembling and conspiring against the security of the nation and propagating against the government in a court which was held last Tuesday behind closed doors.
She was detained before this for five and a half year in temporary detention before being release on bail.

Imminent risk of execution
Tehran -August 10, 2010
Clerical regime’s Supreme Court has rejected Ja'far Kazemi's request to appeal against his death sentence. The sentence was imposed for his alleged participation in anti-government demonstrations and links with PMOI. His sentence may be carried out at any time. Six other people with alleged links to PMOI are said to be under sentence of death.
Ja’far Kazemi was arrested on 18 September 2009 and interrogated and tortured for months in Evin prison in Tehran. He was accused of participating in protests which followed the disputed outcome of Iran’s presidential election in June 2009, but was not accused of committing any violent acts; and for his alleged contact with PMOI.
He was sentenced to death for “enmity against God”, and is also believed to have been convicted of “propaganda against the system”. On 26 April, he learned that his death sentence had been confirmed by an appeal court. A further appeal was apparently rejected in late July.
Mohammad Ali Haj Aghaei, Ali Saremi (or Sarami), Abdolreza Ghanbari, Ahmad Daneshpour Moghaddam and Mohsen Daneshpour Moghaddam are also condemned to execution charged with “enmity against God”. Another political prisoner Javad Lari, a merchant in the Tehran bazaar, is sentenced to “death, without pardon” for “enmity against God.” He is also held in Evin prison, where he was tortured and forced to ‘confess’.
Ja’far Kazemi has been interrogated by security forces for months, and was pressured to make a televised “confession”, which he refused to do. Mr. Kazemi was also a political prisoner in the 1980s. One of his sons is a PMOI member and lives in Camp Ashraf, which houses PMOI members in Iraq. On 1 August, his wife, Roudabeh visited the Judiciary’s office in order to deliver a letter. They refused to accept it and informed her that the death sentence would be carried out.
Tehran’s prosecutor announced on 15 May that the death sentences of Ja’far Kazemi, Mohammad Ali Haj Aghaei, Mohammad Ali Saremi , Abdolreza Ghanbari, and father and son, Ahmad and Mohsen Daneshpour Moghaddam, were upheld by the Appeal Court after they were found guilty of “enmity against God” in relation to their alleged links to the PMOI. In some cases, these links may amount to no more than having contact with family members linked to the PMOI…
Ali Saremi (or Sarami), aged 62, has a son in the PMOI who lives in Camp Ashraf, Iraq, whom he has visited. Ali Saremi has spent 23 years in prison for his political activities both before and after the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran.

Tehran, August 9, 2010
In reaction to the broad global disclosure of PMOI in regard with the massacre of political prisoners in 1988, regime’s Intelligence Ministry shamelessly defended the massacre and in a notorious site called Habilian it wrote: “the only criticism about the execution of this decree was the mercy that we showed towards some of the Monafeghin (PMOI members and supporters) and we didn’t hang them”.
The site continues: “in 1988 Monafeghin tactically repented but after we accepted the ceasefire (in Iran-Iraq war) and after Monafeghin attacked Iran these prisoners too started a riot at the prison and torched it so when, as they thought, Monafeghin would reach Tehran they can complete the invasion and topple us”.
After babbling the lie of torching the prison the site adds: “it was following this act that Imam (Khomeini) ordered that all those Monafeghin that still count themselves as Monafegh there is no sin in killing them and they must be tried and punished. It was Imam’s decisiveness and his decisive measure in regard with Monafeghin that after the trials and their rulings the Judiciary of Islamic Republic was able to cut the active arm of Monafeghin in Islamic Republic”.

Though clerical regime is the second exporter of gas in OPEC but it is incapable of providing Iran with the gas needed.

Crisis of fuel hits taxi drivers
August 8, 2010
Due to lack of gas and gasoline for taxies they only give ride to the passengers who are willing to pay for the whole capacity of passengers of a taxi which would make the taxi driver needless of picking up passengers here and there.
This has raised discontent amongst people.
In another event as the ration of fuel for the taxi agencies has given its place to ‘agency rations’ the taxi drivers are facing serious problems because as some of them put it, it takes up to six months in best condition to obtain that fuel.
A taxi driver in Varamin said: “we have to stay twice a day in long queues for gas and there is no time left for us to work. My co-workers are having another job too because now a days being only a taxi driver does not provide your living especially if you have a child attending university. We clearly see the effect of sanction on our livelihood and we know that it will become worse in the future. We can feel it”.

Brief on Iran

Brief

Suppression;
Tool for covering up the shattering of power of
clerical dictatorship

This question always exists about state-suppression; is this suppression because of the power of the establishment or its weakness?

If we don’t think properly about this question and its answer, at the first instant we always think of a regime’s power and strength in regard with state-suppression; its weakness and the conditions it is embedded in is forgotten.
To answer this question we must first lay out the possibilities and then reach the conclusion.

In which aspects the regime ruling Iran does pursue its suppression?
Execution in public or at prisons, constant torture of prisoners, arbitrary arrests based on different excuses, calling the youths as hooligans and counting them as criminals, imposing pressure on women under the code of ‘the plan for improper veil’, attacking universities, putting the detainees on trial on charge of ‘Moharebe’ (enmity with God or fighting against God) and..., systematic raping of prisoners to break their resistance and make them to confess false, cut in the visits of prisoners and etc.

What is the goal for all these arrests, tortures, executions and etc?
The clerical dictatorship wants to pretend that it enjoys a great power and is capable of doing whatever it wants. No body has the right to even breathe against it none the less to protest or to demand anything.

Has the clerical dictatorship reached its goal by the suppression or not? Has it been able to provoke horror and fear in the society?
Are people afraid because of round the clock suppression imposed by this regime in front of their eyes and express their demands no more?

There are two answers to this question:

First- if the answer is that yes this regime has been able to make the society hush up by its vicious suppression then why all these demonstrations and cries of ‘death to dictator’ that is heard from all society strata? How can this contradiction be answered to?
Second- if the answer is that the Supreme Leader has not been even able to silence the prisoners in the prisons none the less the people in the society from workers to street sweepers, to employees to students to professors and etc.
The conclusion is that the suppression has no effect any more and can no more control the protests and discontent of people.
Especially when people cry in answer to the street killings during last year: ‘death to the principle of Velayat-e-Faghih’ or ‘death to Khamenei’.
This means that if there is even one day of freedom people will pull down this Velayat and will destroy it.

Conclusion:
First: people do not want this regime; they demand its downfall and will pull it down at the first chance they get.
Second: Velayat-e-faghih is only continuing its dictatorship by the power of weapons, IRGC and Bassij; if one day it stops its suppression it will not exist any more.

Especially when we look at the regime in the framework of international community we see that it has no support amongst its neighbors.
On the day of ‘Pasdar’ (IRGC member) Rahim Safavi said: “we don’t have any strategic partner in the region”.

Sanctions imposed on this regime by US, Europe, Canada, Australia and Japan are tightening their rings around this regime each day.
We are witnessing protests because of problems in water, electricity, non-payment of wages. The Bazaar closes; families of political prisoners protest for their freedom and students use any opportunity to protest, strike and march against this regime.
Any where we go we see anti-regime slogans written on the walls.
Political prisoners bravely announce their position in any occasion though they are in the paws of regime’s henchmen and go on hunger strike to gain their rights?
Families of those who had participated in the uprising, and are attacked at their homes by SSF, arrested and tortured still gather in protest on daily or weekly bases in front of regime’s prisoners.

After the Ashura Uprising regime’s propagating apparatus is threatening the youths and other people round the clock.
Mohsen Ejeie regime’s so-called General Prosecutor announced that ‘at least three’ detainees of Ashura Uprising have been identified as ‘Moharebs’ and will be executed but the execution of 5 political prisoners on May 9, 2010 aroused a wave of protests and public strikes. Even in prison the prisoners took positions against this cruel act.

In cities of Sanandaj, Mahabad, Saghez, Baneh, Sardasht, Piranshahr, Naghadeh, Oshnavieh and Marivan bazaars and shops were closed.
The Tehran’s Bus Driving Syndicate condemned the hangings. The Teacher’s Global Confederation condemned the hangings.
Students especially thousands of students of Meli University protested and prevented Ahmadinejad from entering the university; they clashed with Bassijis and made them retreat.

The new decree of execution of political prisoner, Jafar kazemi, supporter of PMOI, has raised a wave of global and domestic protest which still continues.
Political prisoners are on hunger strike some of them on dry hunger strike making the regime desperate, and their families stage protests each day.

While clerical dictatorship had issued the decree of stoning to death for Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani it had to retreat under global pressure and hatred.
The continuation of these protests, demonstrations and anti-regime slogans has dragged the Supreme Leader, Khamenei, into point of desperation.
He hangs to anything but he cannot drive the society any more off the course of their demands.

Though the suppression was obvious but people attacked the suppressive forces in any alley and street in Ashura.

In Tabriz the brave youths punished one of the suppressive elements of SSF after a soccer match.

Regime uses suppression as a tool for its survival. If only one day it stops suppression it will be gone. So it is not a matter of power it is a matter of surviving or not surviving.

During Shah’s time people’s wrath was flamed when his regime massacred people on September 8, 1978 in Jaleh Square.

If the youths could grasp the guns of SSF as they did their shields, batons and helmets then the scene was painted in another color in Ashura.

Thus the regime well knows that it cannot just continue suppression to the extent it wants because if the valiant youths are armed then regime’s downfall accelerates and is inevitable.

The Downfall

Schism within IRGC intensifies
Tehran, August 7, 2010
Deep and serious disputes have shown up amongst different bands within IRGC. The IRGC members (Pasdars) ask each other “are you with Ahmadinejad or Khamenie?”
Many of Pasdars are against Ahmadinejad’s band and that’s the reason that so many of them are put aside during last week.

Ragsanjani warned censorship
Tehran, August 7, 2010
Rafsanjani the head of regime’s Assembly of Experts clearly pointed that people disgust censorship in clerical dictatorship and warned state-run media pointing to the broad network of conveying information by people during the uprising: “in the post-industrial world of today with all the tools for conveying the news and all modern technology one cannot deny the news or censor them”.
As his words have been quoted by ILNA state-run news agency on August 7 Rafsanjani advised the media: “we should not let other media to give the news of Iran to the people when we know exactly what their intention is from picking from amongst the news. If we tell the truth people will turn to us”, to decrease the amount of people’s hatred towards the censorship imposed by the clerical dictatorship.

Disputes between Khamenei’s and Ahmadinejad’s bands
The schism goes even deeper

Mullah Hashem Hosseini attacked the head of Ahmadinejad’s office
Qom, August 7, 2010
At Friday prayer in Qom after Mullah Hashem Hosseini Booshehri attacked US for the spread of sanctions and the option of military attack he attacked Rahim Mashaie the head of Ahmadinejad’s office and said: “we shouldn’t utter whatever we have in mind. You don’t say Islam and you say Iran. What is this? Why are you spreading doubt and concern in the society? All the officials must watch out not to take any step that would please the enemy”.

Mashaie: Kayhan Daily lies
Tehran, August 7, 2010
Following the confrontation between Ahmadinejad’s band and Kayhan Daily, Khamenei’s organ, Rahim Mashaie, Ahmadinejad’s head of office accused the daily from spreading lies and forging documents against him.
In ILNA state-run news agency on August 7 Esfandiar Rahim Mashaie reacted to the document and article published against him in Kayhan Daily and said: “the invitation published was completely a forgery and lie. This is the big lie of Kayhan Daily”.
Mashaie is accused of spreading Pan-Iranism instead of Pan-Islamism. He ruled out the accusation and said: “this is just like other lies they accused me of”.

Dispute continues between the two bands on Mashaie’s sayings
Tehran, August 7, 2010
The disputes have escalated within Khamenei’s band over Rahim Mashaie’s words. Some call him a traitor and ask Ahmadinejad to get rid of him.
Ahmad Tavakoli a regime’s MP from Khamenei’s band said that Mashaie ‘has a sick mind’ and added: “the new corrupt positions of Mr. Mashaie that there are different views of Islam is just illusions of a sick mind which is not in compliance with Islam’s principle, with the constitution and the with the interests of dear Iran”.
Even Ahmad Khatami who is a great supporter of Ahmadinejad attacked Mashaie at this Firday’s Imam at the beginning of the ceremony and said that his words are blasphemy.
Mullah Kabi a member of regime’s Assembly of Experts from Khamenei’s band revealed regime’s intention and said: “those who look for Iranian Islam they are having a corrupt thought. We are looking for an Iran that would be sacrificed for Islam not an Islam at service of Iran”.

Larijani asked the media not to spotlight regime’s bands disputes
Tehran, August 7, 2010
As the schism deepens within the dominant band of regime Larijani the head of regime’s Majlis hoped for the media not to give coverage to such disputes. It is to be mentioned that the Uprising of people of Iran was ignited after the debates amongst regime’s officials was broadcasted in TV, unintentionally revealing the true nature of regime elements for people.

This show how much hollow regime’s claim is that all Iranians support its power-mongering policies.
