RGC official expresses concern over public dissidence in Iran
Sep. 7, 2010
Mohammad-Ali Jafari, the head of the Revolutionary Guards Corps said, “Protests after the elections and the sedition that tried to undermine the structures of the Islamic Republic, was much more dangerous that the 8 year war (with Iraq)”.
“The eight year war helped us to export the revolution but last years seditions damaged the prestige of the revolution to a very high extent and in such a situation, those who lived through the war should not stay silent in the face of animosity, perversions and spiteful measures”, he added.
“Today the Islamic system is in direct war in various political, cultural, economical and social grounds with the global arrogance (the US) and the part that those who lived through the epic times (war) and holy defense play, is very important in this stage”.
Trying to revive the spirits of his forces, Jafar said, “Some think that the time for being a revolutionary is over. This is a big mistake because according to the commands of the Imam (Khomeini), we are still at the beginning of the path”.

Mullah’s anger against world protest against stoning and execution sentences
Sept. 7, 2010
Last week Franko fratini, the foreign ministry, Jiani Almanu, Rome mayor and some other Italian officials and personalities spoke against stonning and execution in Iran. At the same time, in front of Iran’s office in Rome, held protests against stonning sentence and they installed a picture of Sakineh Mohammadi on the Italian prime ministry building.
All these activitise caused so much anger for suprime leader of Iran. Keyhan newspaper attacked the perloskoni the Italian prime minister and called him the head of Italian mafia. Keyhan by pointing at Mrs. Sarkozi’s Italian Nationality insulted her and said Karla broni’s unpleasent past proves why she is supporting an Iranian woman who is under execution. Actually she is also worthy to die.
French Foreign ministry spokesman called this accusation unacceptable and sent a message through diplomatic ways to Iran’s leaders.

Mullah’s regime fear of dis satisfaction and public protests
Sept. 7, 2010
Habibi, the head of Motalefeh gang, by saying that every social problems ends to an act against the Mullah’s dictatorship, pointed out that when people for any small matter, make the government responsible, it is very dangerous.
Habibi’s claims which were published in Ilna’s newagency (state run news paper), said: any thing even the rise of onion’s price comes on the regime which is very dangerous.

State run daily admits to Iran’s inflammatory role in Middle East peace talks
Sept. 7, 2010
The Quds state-run daily admitted to the Iranian regime’s inflammatory role in Palestine in its editorial titled ‘Palestine is Non-negotiable’ and attacked Mahmoud Abbas and wrote: “Even if Mahmoud Abbas calls himself the representative of the Palestinians in the so-called peace talks, he knows very well that he does not have the support of Palestinians and any decision by him might lead to severe reaction from Palestinians in the occupied lands and other countries”.

Sanctions and nuclear bomb

Iran’s ridiculous reaction to IAEA report
Sept. 7, 2010
Iranian state run TV: the Foreign Ministry spokesman said in answer to a question from a reporter on the recent IAEA report that the “negative point of these kinds of reports is that they are easily affected by political issues and pressures of some countries”.
“The agency must preserve its technical dignity in the framework of the NPT and looking into political issues and political pressures is outside of its legal duties”, he stressed.
The spokesman said that ‘we think that non-technical matters will not have much credibility” and stressed that ‘the cooperation of the Islamic Republic with the IAEA will continue under very good circumstances”.
“All nuclear activities of the Islamic Republic are under 24 hour monitoring of agency cameras”.
These claims are made while Agence France Press and the IAEA have reported several times that the Iranian regime does not allow inspections. It is very clear that Iran prevents the inspection duties of the IAEA to monitor its nuclear activities.
We in the Student’s Committee in Iran believe that a regime which denies the rights of its citizens and violates the minimum rights of its people even religious and ethnic minorities cannot have peaceful nuclear activities and its nuclear activities are definitely a threat to global peace and security.

Long lines for bus fuel leads to tension and clashes
Sept. 7, 2010
According to reports, because of the lack of fuel in Iran, bus drivers of private companies and the Vahed Bus Company have to wait in long lines to get fuel. Vahed Company fuel stations have stopped giving gas to busses of the Vahed Company and private companies. Bus drivers who are fasting in the month of Ramadan have to wait in these long lines for hours and sometime even after sunset which is when Muslim’s break their fast.
There were also a number of clashes because of the mistreatment of these drivers by officials.
Currently the atmosphere is tense in these gas stations and these drivers have stopped working to wait in these lines. They are met with the insults and harassment of traffic police threatening them not to park outside gas stations else they will be fined but the bus drivers cannot afford to lose their place in line.

Iran exports increased by 22 percent this year
Sept. 7, 2010
The value of the exports to Iran was 24.2 billion dollars in the first five months of the Persian year (starting from March 24) which shows that compared to the same time last year the value of exports has increased by 22.21 percent. Some experts believe that this increase shows Iran’s fear of international sanctions. The Iranian regime fears that the sanctions will reach a point where it cannot have access to the global markets and is filling its stock from before. The Iranian regime has other problems as well with European banks. Almost all the branches of the Saderat Bank have closed down in Europe and Iran is worried that because it cannot pay back its debts to its European exporters, it will not be able to buy from them. Another reason for the raise in exports is the anti-national policies of Ahmadinejad. From the first day he came to power, he increased exports which has led to the destruction of internal companies and productions. Some experts also believe that Iran fears a faceoff and likely military confrontations and therefore is getting ready for an economy suitable for war like conditions.

Dire condition of Economic Condition in Iran
Sept. 7, 2010
Tehran – Speech of one of employees: we were waiting for 6% excess salary in the current month, but we saw a reduction in the insurance and there was no news from excess in the salary.

Tehran – from 500 manufacturers in Tehran, only 100 are active and the rest are out of work.
The reason is massive amount of imports from China, government thinks if the amount of goods are a lot in the market, it will effect in pressure caused by inflation and he wants stop inflation by this plan but the price of this plan is paid by internal manufacturers and the workers of these manufacturers are appealing for some excess work hours but they are suffering unemployment.

Tehran- there are two main problems, one is lack of liquidity and another one is junky goods of China, one is string with the price of 4 dollars per kilo and another one is plastic string which is 1.5 dollars per kilo, but we don’t know why china goods are being priced more than 1.5 dollars. When I investigated, industries said that they are being imported legally and priced 2.6 dollars but the raw materials are being provided from Malasia but weaved in here. China also should get the raw material from Malasia and pay the worker and then import it to Iran, so it is unknown how the prices are being set.

Increase in prices
Sep. 7, 2010
Tehran- Milk two years ago was 200 cent but now is 400 cent. Bread was 5 cent and now is 200 cent. Meat is 20$ and peach is 4 $ per kilo.

Tehran- According to one stationary shop in Narmak- The sovereignty people of people have been reduced. It is worse than last year. For example copy paper was 4.4$ per pack, but now is 5.4$ . Every thing had risen up in price and nothing is make in Iran but from China.

Tehran – Accroding to received reports from Tehran, price of bus tickets of Azadi sq. to Tehran pars has risen up from 0.2$ to 0.8$ which has caused a great protest from Tehran residents. In majority of bus stations clashes between the ticket controllers and people are continuous. Reports say from Azadi station, Enghelab, Imam Hossein, ValiAsr and Tehran Pars clashed are very strong so that the officers are forced to refuse getting tickets.

Tehran- one selling kiosk in zone 15 say: People can not even by newpaper of magazines and they only see the leaves of them and pass away and they are not able to buy. They have said also not to sell cigarettes and candies; this means unemploying tree families, because their incomes come from this way. He added that we also are going to be added to the number of unemployed because we can not afford these high prices.

Boushehr- Delay in paying the teachers’ salaries for several months have made a lot of problems for them.

Qazvin- Due to high salaries of schools low income families and especially the workers because of not affording to pay the salary, are being forced to pull out their children from schools.  A work says: I have about 18 years work experience but I have not received my salary for over 16 months and I  demand about 5000$ from the company. With this situation I can not even get bread for my family then how can I pay the salary to enroll my children in school? I need 170$ to enroll my youngest child but I don’t know how to provide it while for getting bread and cheese; I have to borrow from others.

Sept. 7, 2010
Tehran, Iran, 07 September 2010 — The lawyer for an Iranian woman sentenced to be stoned on an adultery conviction says he and her children are worried the delayed execution could be carried out soon.

The lawyer said Monday that Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani's stoning sentence could happen 'any moment.'
The sentence was put on hold in July after an international outcry and it is now being reviewed by Iran's Supreme Court.
Ashtiani was convicted in 2006 of having an 'illicit relationship' with two men after the murder of her husband and was sentenced to 99 lashes. Later that year, she was also convicted of adultery and sentenced to be stoned. (AP - Sept. 7, 2010)

Sep. 7, 2010
Security forces fatally shot a Sunni teenager in the head in the Island of Qeshm on September 7.
According to reports, Sadeq Dolayizadeh, from the Dolab Village in Qeshm went out today to the ocean for fishing. He was arrested by security forces and was shot in the head on the shore in front of bystanders.
This teenager who was in the 9th grade was forced to work to provide for his family and went out fishing everyday. He was arrested by security forces in the sea and was then led to the shore.
After seeing this scene, a number of eyewitnesses attempted to get close to Dolayizadeh to save his life but were shot at by security forces. These agents initially beat Sadeq and then shot him in the head.
Two of the agents fled from the scene after seeing the angry crowd but one of the agents was captured by the people and after being beaten, the body of the teenager and the agent were both handed over to the Qeshm Intelligence Agency.
The father of the Dolayizadeh family has been suffering from an illness for years and the only breadwinner of the family was young Sadeq.
Notably, a large number of young people in this region are killed yearly because of mistreatment by security forces.
Most people in Qeshm Island located in Southern Iran fish for a living. The people of this region have been faced with a drought for more than 10 years and live in dire economical conditions. Poverty has made the living standards of more than 80 percent of the villages in this island very dreadful.

RGC official say 10,000 protesters arrested after elections

This is the first time that an official put the number of detainees at 10,000. Before this the highest official number was announced by the spokesman of the judiciary, Alireza Jamshidi, who put the number at 4,000.

Political prisoners in Evin Prison face new limitations
Sep. 7, 2010
Cellblock 350 in Evin Prison was renamed the Temporary Security Cellblock as of yesterday (Monday). Political prisoners believe that this name change is a step towards tightening the security atmosphere and setting more limitations in this cellblock.
More than 200 political prisoners, half of which were arrested after election events, are kept in this cellblock.
Unlike other public cellblocks in this prison, officials subject prisoners to limitations and it has been more than 50 days that all phones have been cut off. Under normal circumstances, prisoners in this cellblock are only allowed a 2 to 3 minutes phone call in one day even while prisoners in other cellblocks can use the phones without any limitations.
The restrictions in cellblock 350 are not limited to phone calls and prisoners face limitations in seeing their families. Under normal conditions, prisoners are allowed one visit per month in this cellblock but now prisoners are only allowed visits after a written approval from the Tehran Prosecutor. This means that families of political prisoners have to go see the Prosecutor several times before he actually reviews the prisoner’s case to finally allow a 30 minute in person visit.

Ridiculous scenes of a so-called show of power near the Friday Prayers
Sept. 6, 2010
Tehran: On Friday, Sept. 3, 2010 there were ridiculous scenes of a so-called show of power near the Friday Prayers by Bassij forces. It was supposedly a karate and Kong foo show on the street and all the people passing by made fun of the Bassiji forces. The two attached videos show this ridiculous show of Bassijis which was played out as Ahmadinejad was giving a speech.
In one of the scenes of this ‘play’ the Bassijis set something on fire on the street which led to protests from young people and even to anti-government slogans. The Bassij force quickly put out the fire to prevent further protests and gatherings.

'Quds Day' in Isfahan
Sept. 6, 2010
Report from Isfahan on Friday Sept. 3, 2010 – According to a report given by a witness in Isfahan, the crowds in Isfahan for 'Quds Day' were very small. Only about 150 people were walking in each line. The state-run TV was saying that millions were out on the street but I only saw that barely 200 to 300 people were out in Isfahan. They had brought maybe 100 people from other towns because of the small turnout in this city.

Iranian regime's FM spokesman admits pain of sanctions
Sept. 6, 2010
The Iranian regime’s foreign ministry spokesman admitted to the painful impacts of international sanctions on the clerical regime, saying, “So, if we retreat, there would be nothing left for us.”
According to the state-run Fars news agency on Sunday, Ramin Mehmanparast, whose remarks were broadcast on state-run TV, said, “We do not welcome any sanctions or [punitive] resolutions. We don’t want to move towards resolutions. But, at the same time, we are not prepared to back away from our rights under pressure.”
The comments ran counter to what the mullahs’ President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, had previously stated on a number of occasions to the effect that the regime “embraces sanctions.” He had added that sanctions actually benefit the Iranian regime.
Mehmanparast also unveiled the creation of “the special headquarters at the Foreign Ministry to confront sanctions.” He referred to some of the impacts, saying, “For example, there are chemical products that are used for peaceful purposes 96% of the time. They could only have a 4% chance of being used for military purposes. But, as soon as a merchant starts to be active in this field, he is told that you are importing these products for military purposes in Iran. Even cement and iron rods count as being sensitive products. They say that these products may be used for building military fortifications.”

The regime has been powerless against universities for the past 32 years, official says
Sept. 7, 2010
A member of the Iranian regime’s Majlis (Parliament) has said that the clerical regime has not been able to dominate universities during the past 32 years after the 1979 revolution, the state-run Tabnak reported on Monday.
In reaction to the regime’s Minister of Science who had said that universities opposed to the regime would have to be destroyed, the Majlis deputy, Abdoljabar Karami, said regime officials should avoid making such statements, adding, “Instead of demolishing universities, we have to look back to our own wrong doings and see why in the past 32 years we have not been able to influence students.”
In statements targeting Kamran Daneshjou, the mullahs’ Science Minister, Karami said that measures that could “incite chaos in universities” and “harm the regime” must be avoided.

Workers in this factory have 3 month contracts and the head of the factory can fire them whenever the factory goes into a critical state. None of the workers have job security and can be fired any day.

Tehran: about 400 workers of the Kian Tire Factory who had not received their wages for four months did not receive their wages in the month of Mordad (July 23 to august 22) and these workers are still in an undetermined state. There is a tense atmosphere among the workers in this factory.
In this regard, the factory Protection Department and the head of the factory have told workers that they should not talk about the condition of this factory with anyone and if someone wants to know about the worker’s situation, they should come to us.

All factories are gradually closing
Sept. 7, 2010
Tehran: the head of a Western Tehran Taxi agency said that 300 liters of fuel only last for 10 to 15 days when you consider car maintenance and the agency commission and 400 liters of fuel, nothing is left for the driver. And this is in conditions where taxi drivers even in northern Tehran are from the impoverished south of Tehran who all live in rented homes and have loans and have to pay the expenses of their children and they cannot make a living under these circumstances.

Sanctions and nuclear bomb
Sept. 7, 2010
Amol: It has been a month now that cylinder gas has become scarce in the town of Amol. This shortage has led to serious problems for the people in this town.

Tehran: A taxi driver in a Taxi agency in West Tehran has said that one of their problems is that an agency that has 300 to 400 calls a day only has two cars. Drivers practically make no money and have to use their money for their car maintenance which needs a lot of care as a result of overuse. This taxi driver also said that because of high prices, inflation and the price of his children’s education including text books and other facilities, they  have problem sending their children to school.

Sept. 7, 2010
On the 22nd anniversary of the mass execution of political prisoners in 1988 at the hands of the Iranian regime, political prisoners at Evin Prison commemorated the memories of the victims by holding a special ceremony on Friday.
The ceremony was called “A Night with Khavaran,” referring to Khavaran cemetery where some of the victims are buried in mass graves. More than 30,000 dissidents, a majority of whom were supporters of the main opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), were executed in groups in the summer of 1988 by the clerical regime.
Political prisoners at Ward 350 recited poems and sang resistance anthems. Some of those who survived the massacre also recounted past stories and honored the memory of the slain.
According to a report obtained from Ward 350, the prisoners condemned the 1988 killings, describing it as a humanitarian and national catastrophe. They also denounced the issuing of heavy sentences against the massacre’s current survivors who are still imprisoned as well as against other political prisoners and said these death sentences are the continuation of the crimes committed by the regime in the 1980s.

Situation of Prisons in Iran
Sept. 7, 2010
Tehran: according to the judge in a Tehran court, most prisons have been filled to their maximum capacity and Evin Prison does not accept most prisoners who have been sentenced to prison by courts.
For example when a convict is sent to prison, they are sent back in many instances and prison officials say that they should either be released until their final sentence or they should be detained in Intelligence and Security Detention Centers. This is while intelligence detention centers are very small and have a limited capacity.

Three students sentenced to prison; student activist beaten in Vakil Abad Prison
Sep. 6, 2010
Three students of the Firdosi University in Mashhad by the names of Mehdi Khosravi, Amin Riahi and Hamid-Reza Amirkhani were sentenced to one year of prison which has been suspended for five years.
This is while Amir Riahi, the editor of the Mohavereh student publication, was severely beaten in Vakil Abad Prison. Eyewitnesses said that the reason he was beaten was for protesting to a soldier in prison…
Riahi disclosed the name of the person who beat him and said, “A soldier named Reza Bayat who was responsible for fingerprinting took me to another room and then started violently beating me for about 10 minutes. In the two or three hours that I was kept in that hall I saw at least four more beatings and two of them were carried out by Mr. Bayat”.
“After that when I was being released from prison, another soldier separated me and another political prisoner and asked us a few questions. I really did not have the ability to answer but the person next to me who decisively answered the questions was beaten and unfortunately he did not have a name tag and I do not know his name”.
These students wrote for their student publication in Mashhad’s Firdosi University and were sentenced to one year of prison on charges of propagating against the government. They were also sentenced to four semesters of suspension in 2008 for their activities in this publication.

Sunni prisoners insulted and beaten in Gohardasht Prison
Sep. 6, 2010
According to reports from Iran, cellblock 2 known as the Dar al-Quran in Gohardasht Prison is very tense after prison agents insulted Sunni prisoners. These prisoners who are mostly Kurd political and non-political prisoners protested the insults which were being broadcasted from the cellblock loudspeakers.
Prison officials Kermani and Faraji and other prison guards threatened the Sunni protesters that if they do not end their protests, prison guards will beat them and transfer them to solitary cells…
On Sunday September 5, when they see that the protests of political and non-political Sunni prisoners were ongoing, Karami, Faraji the head and assistant head of the Prison Intelligence Unit and prison guards attacked a Sunni prisoner identified as Ata-ollah Azizi and beat him, subsequently taking him to cellblock 6 in this prison.
The Prison Intelligence Unit instigates and encourages other prisoners to clash with Sunni prisoners and there is a high chance of widespread religious clashes in this cellblock.

Officially organized instigated clashes in Gohardasht Prison leaves many prisoners severely injured
Sep. 7, 2010
According to reports from Iran, on Monday September 6, at least seven prisoners were severely injured after bloody clashes in cellblock 1 in Gohardasht Prison. Four of these prisoners were taken to hospitals outside of prison because of the severity of their injuries and are in critical condition.
One of the prisoners identified as Javad Zare was struck on the head with a sword and his eye was scooped out in the prison infirmary. Another prisoner who had a deep wound on his head was taken to a hospital outside of prison.
The clashes in these cellblocks are carried out with the instigation and encouragement of the Prison Intelligence Unit and those who participate in these clashes and attack prisoners are intelligence elements in prison and are also used in distributing drugs and suppressing prisoners.
When a clash starts in a cellblock, prison guards close the cellblock doors and let the gangs attack their victims. These attacks are carried out with the intention of fatally wounding or severely injuring the victims. Prison guards only intervene after the clashes end and start evacuating the wounded prisoners. In most cases the attackers are not held accountable and continue their crimes in the cellblocks.
The organizers of these clashes in various prison cells are Kermani and Faraji, the head and assistant head of the Intelligence Unit in this prison.

Families of detained Christians threatened in Mashhad
Sep. 7, 2010
The Islamic Revolutionary Court in Mashhad has threatened the families of detained Christians and has told them that if the jailed Christians do not turn back to Islam, they will be charged with apostasy.
According to reports, three of these converted Christians identified as Reza (Stephan), his wife Maria and Ehsan Behrouz were arrested on July 8, 2010 on charges of converting to Christianity. Branch 901 of the Revolutionary Court in Mashhad asked the families of these three Christians on August 29 to participate in their trial.
According to reports from a source close to this case, in the above mentioned session, court and security officials told these families that despite 50 days of attempts by guidance agents to convert these prisoners back to Islam, these people have still not given a positive answer and are not willing to leave their Christian beliefs…
Judicial and security officials in Mashhad have also said that if their families are not able to force them back to Islam, they will charge them with apostasy and they will be tried on these charges.
The official meaning of apostasy in Iran is execution.

Study of reason for regime failure on Quds Day
5 September 2010
The very low turn out on Quds Day and the media boycott of this event has led regime officials to examine the reasons behind this failure on Quds Day.
One example of this evaluation was published by the state-run Farda Website in which Ismail Ahmadi Moqadam, the head of the State Security Forces, said that carrying out security maneuvers before Quds Day was ‘bad taste’. But he claimed that the maneuver was for ‘robbers and other like them’.
Farda wrote: Ismail Ahmad Moqadam implicitly criticized the Prevention Maneuver on Thursday (September 2). This maneuver was to counter armed robbers and other criminals.
The head of the State Security Forces said that carrying out this police maneuver a day before Quds Day was ‘bad taste’.
Ahmadi Moqadam said that the carrying out the Crime Prevention Maneuver one day before Quds might ‘have been because of the bad taste of our colleagues on choosing the day of the maneuver”.
On Thursday, the streets of Tehran were filled with police forces one day before Quds Day. The head of the Tehran Security forces immediately reacted to rumors regarding the heavy police presence and said that it was part of the ‘Prevention’ plan.

Foreign Ministry admits to mullahs’ stalemate
5 September 2010
The spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry admitted to the negative results of international sanctions for the mullah’s dictatorship and said that “if we retreat, we will have nothing left”.
According to the state-run Fars News Agency on September 5, Mehman Parast said, “We do not welcome any sanctions or resolutions, we do not want to go towards a resolution but we are not willing to retreat from our rights because of the pressures… nothing will be left for us”.
Notably, Ahmadinejad had constantly said that ‘we welcome sanctions and sanctions are in our interest according to a program that we had set’.
The Foreign Ministry spokesman also said that a “Special Staff will be created to counter sanctions in the Foreign Ministry” and said that “we do not welcome sanctions and they are not in the interest of the Iranian people”.

Ali Larijani made the unprecedented remarks during a speech in Qom, according to the state-run Mehr news agency on Friday.
“A quick glimpse at the country’s situation shows that we are facing difficult threats and overcoming them requires a period of resistance. We have to avoid making costly statements.”
“Currently, we are being threatened economically, culturally, politically and regionally. The most important of them are economic threats and the West is trying to impose various sanctions to cause drain the system from within and diminish the political influence of the establishment among people.”
Larijani said in thinly veiled remarks that clearly expressed anxiety, “The enemies are targeting the Islamic Republic’s capabilities in the region. A triangle is currently being formed that consist of the three sides of pressuring Iran, pressuring the Lebanese resistance forces and creating a mild atmosphere for the Palestinians to pursue peace talks.”
Referring to expanding conflicts within the clerical regime, Larijani said talk of issues that might encourage discord should be set aside. “Domestically, the enemies are trying to incite divisions among our internal loyal forces in order to achieve their ends.”

Ahmadinejad's debt problems spread to other parts of economy
September 5, 2010
While the government of the mullahs’ President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is grappling with a $140 billion debt, various parts of the economy and social services are taking huge blows.
According to a Aftab state-run news agency, 750,000 farmers have lost their jobs during the past five years alone. Aftab said that the latest reports and statistics by the regime show that bank credits to farmers are severely restricted and despite rising inflation, the government buys agricultural products like rice and wheat at cheap prices citing dubious pretexts.
At the same time, other agricultural products, particularly fruits, are being imported in an unbridled fashion, which leads to more unemployment in the industry.
Separately, 120,000 teachers have also lost their jobs, according to Arman newspaper. This week, a number of teachers protested to the decision by gathering in front of the regime’s Majlis (Parliament).
Meanwhile, the regime’s prisons are unprecedentedly overcrowded. Recently, the head of the regime’s Prisons Organization said there are over 205,000 people behind bars in Iran, warning that “if the trend were to continue, a serious human catastrophe will be in the works.”
According to the regime’s Prisons Organization statistics, while the average rate of prisoners in the world is 132 for every 100,000 people, “in Iran, there are 348 inmates for every 100,000 people.”
The Ahmadinejad government has also made a significant calculation mistake in declaring the banking system’s capacity to issue credits. According to the state-run Donyay-e Eqtesad on August 30, although the banks could issue 23 billion dollars in credit, the government declared the amount as 70-80 billion dollars, making a mistake of over 50 billion dollars.

There is unbridled poverty in Iran, the regime's mullah Makarem Shirazi says
September 4, 2010
A cleric close to the Iranian regime says poverty in Iran has spun out of control. “On the other hand,” he added, “we see the enormous money provided to some people whose status is well known.”
Mullah Nasser Makarem Shirazi also referred to the hefty financial contracts involving actors and athletes.
He added, “Moreover, a substantial amount of money is spent out of the government budget on individuals who are described as Iranians living abroad.”
There are villages which are deprived of the most basic medical services and residents have to jump into the river to bathe, Shirazi said.
His comments were apparently targeting a state-organized “conference of Iranians abroad,” which took place last month in Tehran for the second consecutive year and was run by a close aide to the mullahs’ President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
People who attended the gathering had their expenses paid in full by the Ahmadinejad government during their three day visit to Iran.
Some observers say the so-called conference was organized by Tehran to dispel its image as an isolated regime and to spur foreign investment.
But, even members of Ahmadinejad’s own faction began to lash out at the decision and even the participants. Some said the attendees did not come to invest but instead were motivated by an all expense paid trip to the country.

Neda's mother: Her eyes will remain open until she obtains her goal
September 4, 2010
The mother of a young woman whose death last year became a symbol of the anti-regime uprisings in Iran has demanded the trial of her daughter’s murderer by the International Court of Justice at the Hague, the International Human Rights Campaign reported on Monday.
Neda Aqa Soltan was murdered by the Iranian regime’s agents during a peaceful rally on June 20, 2009. Scenes of her death, which were captured by a cell phone and broadcasted all over the world, provoked an international outcry against the clerical regime’s barbaric suppression of the protests. The Iranian regime tried to cover up the crime by producing a number of fabricated footage and outlandish documentaries to silence protests.
However, in reaction to the documentaries broadcasted on state-run TV, Neda’s mother said, “Nobody believes these lies, neither the people of Iran nor the people of the world. I know who the murderer is, but the government doesn’t accept it.”
“When I protested against a documentary that said Neda committed suicide, they replied that I should share my complaint with the media. But, what would I say in a state-run newspaper? … I replied that I know who Neda’s murderer is and that is why I will never appear on state-run TV and radio. … They discredited themselves even more by making such films.”
Ms. Aqa Soltan also recounted scenes of her daughter’s death by saying, “Neda’s eyes were open and they will always remain open until she obtains her goal. … If her eyes were closed perhaps her influence would not have been as much. It was her open eyes that shook Iran and the entire world.”

Slain protester’s widow: those who attacked my husband’s gravesite should know that I have become more intent to speak out

September 2, 2010
Massoumeh Chegini, the wife of slain protester Moharam Chegini said in an interview that in the past two weeks, the gravesite of her husband, who was shot and killed in the June 15, 2009 march in Tehran ,was attacked. She also said that her pursuits of this issue via the authorities of Behesht Zahra Cemetery have had no result.
“The first week they broke all the showcase glasses (next to his grave) and this week when I went to my husband’s gravesite, I saw that they had taken his picture and the Quran in the showcase. They even pulled out a board with his name on it from the ground and took it away with them”, she said.
Mrs. Chegini said that the identity of the culprits is still unknown.
“I initially went up to the head of the Behesht Zahra cemetery with this issue but they tell me that I have to go their offices and from their offices they told me to go somewhere else and in the end they told me to put up another board up next to his grave”.
“Eyewitnesses in Behesht Zahra say that four people attacked my husband’s grave in section 256 and pulled out the board that we had made ourselves for my husband. But the eyewitnesses were not able to distinguish who these people were or why they did this”, she added.
“It is correct that there are no more marches on the streets, it is correct that it seems that the people have been silenced but I think there is something in our hearts that will not be forgotten so easily. Because neither my husband nor other young people who went out on the streets have not gotten their votes back and we have not received any answers on who the murderers of our loved ones are”.
“The blood of all these people cannot be trampled on. People will never forget that protesters were shot and killed right in front of their eyes and that they did not help any of the families afterwards. I hope that one day I find the murderer of my husband so that the blood of my husband and other young people will not be trampled upon and I urge the leaders of the movement and the people not to let us be”.
“My husband was a laborer and made ends meet with much effort. None of the officials who claim justice in an Islamic country asked themselves that when they kill the breadwinner of a household, how is his lonely wife supposed to live under these abhorrent conditions? Have any of the officials asked themselves why they do not even answer to our lawyer?”
“Those who kill young people and then act as if nothing has happened when these slain people have wives and children and that they might live under tough conditions should know that the hope that is flourishing in our hearts and that of the people will one day bring down the murderers. It is true that we are suffering when we see that our wounds are made fresh everyday but with these measures they have led me to become more intent in following the goal in my heart to not let the blood of my husband be trampled on”, Mrs. Chegini concluded.
