Breaking News - Labor Day in Iran - May 1, 2010

Tehran, May 1, 2010- Today in Azad University, Central Unit, the whole university will go on stirke in solidarity with the workers on Labor Day

- At 1130 more than 1500 protesting workers who had gathered in front of Interior Ministry chanted in protest. Ahmadinejad is going to make a speech for Bassiji elements inside the ministry calling them workers. The real workers are not allowed inside.
Protesters chant slogans outside the hall against his government's anti laborer policies. They also chanted against the regime.

- In solidarity with the workers taxi drivers in their station is Azadi St. has gone on strike and do not transport their passengers.

- Mahjob regime's appointed head of Laborer House has held a ceremony in Khairolamal Stadium which was fininshed at 11 am and only 3500 had participated.
While reading the statement even the workers gathered by regime in the stadium protested saying that the presence of Afgahn workers has made them jobless and their families hungry. As Mahjoob started answering them the workers rose one by one and started leaving the place.
One of the workers grasped the tribune and said we have problems, we are construction wokers and haven't received our wages for a year. We have family, we are hungry.
Outside the place about 50 SSF were stationed.
The workers hold placards in the hall reading: we haven't received our wages for two years, we have worked for 20 year but we still don't have a stable position.
The Minister of Labor was supposed to participate in the ceremony but he didn't dare because of the protest.
