Islamizing universities
in Velayat-e-Faghih’s Establishment!
Regime’s fear of universities and the students has escalated hundred times after the breakage of Khamenei’s talisman and after the students become the pioneers in the nationwide uprising of Iran.
In a terrible rush and by taking advantage of the summer holidays the clerical regime is trying hard to ‘Islamize the trend of education’ in the country bringing this excuse that Social Science has come from West or by firing secular professors or burying the bones of the casualties of Iran- Iraq war at the universities.
In the current week Sadegh Larijani said about teaching Social Sciences that: “the Social Science that we teach has come from the West. In a country that is based on faith in God and monotheism and moves based on Koran can we lean on Social Science? We should not spread the physiological, sociological and anthropology theories that do not comply with religious defaults”.
Firing professors
In Islamizing Universities, Ahmadinejad’s government has been firing professors. During the recent week four members of the Scientific Board of the Meli University have been ousted by Ministry of Science. In the academic year of 2009-2010 more than 150 professors and members of the scientific boards of the universities have been either fired or forcedly retired before its time.
burying bones of the casualties of Iran- Iraq war
In addition to that the Ministry of Science and Techniques has the plan of ‘burying bones of the casualties of Iran- Iraq war’ at the universities during the summer vacations. It is for two years that this plan has been approved but due to students protests against this act regime has not been able to implement it at the universities so far.
To have a review over the history of ‘Islamizing universities’ we better point to the sayings of Khomeini before and after he took power.
In 1970 Khomeini said about students and universities: “on groundless excuses they raid on the universities and drag the honorable youths to prisons and barracks. We have become very sorry about the recent events at Iran’s universities and the vicious and merciless raids of the oppressing system against the students”.
After Khomeini took power in the mid-spring of 1980 after the cultural coup d’etat at the universities he said: “our universities are exploited ones. They train people who are pro-west... Our universities are not beneficial for our nation”.
After the cultural coup d’etat Khomeini closed universities for three years under the name of Islamizing them but in vein.
Regime’s current Valie-e-Faghih, again Khamenei brought up the issue last year saying that Social Science units of the universities are not Islamic.
Rahim Safavi the former head of IRGC and now advisor of Khamenei said last year: “to Islamize the universities the general unit of ‘becoming acquainted with Sacred Defense’ (what regime calls the eight years of Iran- Iraq war) is approved at the Ministry of Science”.
Hadad Adel another top element of khamenei said: “We greatly anticipate the new Minister of Science to Islamize the universities. I hope that it would soon come true with the help of religious assemblies and the High Council of Cultural Revolution of this ministry”.
It is clear that these words are signs of the historical defeat of Khamenei in confronting universities and the students.
With all those killings and suppression, with purging of professors and students, after 30 years of regime’s ominous rule and the encroachment of Bassiji’s, Harasat’s and Disciplinary Committee’s hooligans at the universities, what this regime gained from the universities is only the cries of ‘death to dictator’, ‘Seyed Ali (Khamenei) Pinochet, Iran will never be Chile’ and ‘Khamenei is a murderer his rule is void’.
These slogans cried from the throat of students and academicians clearly speak of defiance of this regime in its totality.
Khamenei and his gang will take to the grave their wish of ‘Islamizing universities’.
The great bell of the death of the dictator is being ringed.
