Commemorating Kianoosh Asa
Tehran June 1, 2010At noon of Tuesday June 1, more than 450 students of Science & Industry University gathered to commemorate Kianoosh Asa a student of this university who gave his life under torture to gain freedom for his people.
At this gathering about 150 Bassiji students tried to disrupt the gathering chanting pro-regime slogans and taping the faces of participants in the gathering but they were defeated and the ceremony was held.
A member of ISC, present at the ceremony, reports:
At 12 noon the gathering started and it lasted till 1330.
The crowd was about 400 to 500 strong and they started from in front of Chemistry Department (Kianoosh’s department of study) while the students sang the unity song ‘Yare Dabestani’.
Then the students marched towards Asa Park (a park at the university named after Kianoosh by students last year) chanting ‘my fallen brother I will gain back your blood’.
At this point the head of Harasat stopped the students and threatened them that if they continue whatever happened would be their faults.
Harasat forces and Bassiji students surrounded the participants and continuously threatened them and took their film and picture.

The ceremony was to be held in Asa Park but university’s Bassij backed up by Harasat occupied the park holding a speech about Qaza and didn’t permit other students to get near there. Thus the students went around the park and continued their ceremony in front of the dining place of students and professors.
They chanted:
Alas if Science & industry yields to oppression,
My fallen brother I will gain back your right,
A student will die but will not yield to oppression,
Valiant student support, support,
Professor of Science & Industry support, support,
Death to mercenary (this was shouted when Bassijies and Harasat agents wanted to attack).
The security atmosphere was very high. The students couldn’t get into Asa Park so they went to Amphitheater and commemorated Kianoosh there Bassiji students chanted from their back and students chanted Allah O Akbar to fade the Bassijies’ voices.
Bassiji students clashed with participants in the ceremony. A student was arrested by Harasat and was taken to the office of Negah Magazin (the magazine of Elmieh Assosiation a pro-Khamenei assosiation).
Students gathered in protest in front of the office and said that they will not leave until the arrested student was freed.
