Tehran- Jan. 15, 2011
While people especially low income sector of the society are in desperate conditions after the subsidy cuts and many cannot afford even to buy mere bread, state-run media try to show the situation the other way around saying that the clerical dictatorship is facing no economic and social problems after subsidy cuts.
Khabar On Line state-run site citing the report of Central Bank said that one month after subsidy cuts the price of comestibles are almost steady and in some cases the prices have decreased.
Regime is telling these lies to calm down the protesting atmosphere of the society. Even the price of bread has risen so much that the poor people whose main food is bread can no longer provide even that for their families.
Police warns 26,000 taxi violators!
Tehran- Jan. 163, 2011
Fars state-run news agency reported on Jan.15: “Great Tehran’s Chief of Traffic Police, Hossein Rahimi said that 140 police-taxi enterprise teams have warned 26,000 taxi drivers so far”.
After subsidy cuts people have rushed to use public transportation but due to price rise in gasoline and gas taxis are not able to offer their services.
Instead of lowering the price the clerical dictatorship has formed police force to put pressure on taxi drivers to offer their services to prevent public discontent.
Subsidy cuts and universities
Tehran- Jan. 15, 2011
One of the most serious effects of subsidy cuts on the education and life of the students is the quality of food at the universities and row material for labs after subsidy cuts. The providers just take the residuals of Tehran’s Fruit Bazaar at the cheapest price, to use for students’ food. Also the bus services of the dormitory are now giving rid only to those students who live in the dormitory.
Price of books have risen 5 to 10 percent.
These negative consequences are seen more at nongovernmental universities.
