Brief on Iran - Sept. 24, 2010

Brief

The Deplorable situation of Iranian Teachers
On the Eve of the New Academic Year

Ahmainejad claimed that he will bring oil (its income) to the table of all Iranian;
 But 300,000 ousted from Ministry of Education is the result of his governing;
one fact from thousands catastrophically facts under his rule.

The new academic year in Iran starts while Ahmadinejad's government has fired 300,000 of Ministry of Education's Employees, instead the deputy of Development of Management & Human Assets has received permission for hiring only 40,000 teachers on the condition of exams and interviews.

120,000 teachers who are among the 300,000 fired employees from five provinces have been protesting in front of regime's parliament since August 23, 2010.

The subject of protests was the firing of contract – teachers. These teachers demanded to be fully hired. They said that the Ministry of Education had promised to hire them at the end of their contract but instead it has fired them.

The same kind of protest was held in front of regime's parliament at the first week of September by teachers from Isfahan, Mazandaran, East Azerbaijan and Khorasan Razavi Provinces. They said: "though we have the experience of  4 to 7 years of teaching but the Ministry has told us that it doesn't need us while it is using the retired teachers or some teachers are teaching double hours. The Ministry even doesn't let us to participate in the hiring exam."

The Ministry of Education left no hope for these teachers and said that these forces have always been a burden on the Ministry's shoulder and now the problem was solved in the history of the Ministry of Education.

This is the gratitude of Ahmadinejad and the system of Velayat-e-Faghieh towards the teachers who have worked for years but have been paid on daily bases, just like a (free) laborer; without any future they have been fired joining the army of unemployed.

In answer to the protest of these teachers in regard with discrimination in being hired, Haji Babaie the Minister of Education said that by law %25 of the capacity of the ministry belongs to the families of regime's martyrs and handicaps of (Iran-Iraq) ; this will be 10,000 people.
The percent left for others is %50 in each region.

But by regime's parliament's law the priority should be given to daily-waged teachers. The protesting teachers said that though there has been room to hire teachers for elementary classes but the ministry did not hire them.

Our deprived and oppressed people for sure will not tolerate all these bullying which is imposed on them as social suppression or economical pressure by this regime.

With no doubt a regime that has sunk in foreign and domestic crises; social, economic and political, does not have much time left. Its count down has started from long ago.
